LEES rising star Aqib Fiaz’s return to the ring has been confirmed.
As revealed by The Oldham Times last month, the top prospect, who has won all six of his professional contests to date, will be in action at Eddie Hearn’s ‘Fight Camp’ on August 7.
The 21-year-old’s opponent is yet to be announced, although the Jamie Moore-trained fighter is hoping for another step up in class as he targets title fights sooner rather than later.
It will be the second incarnation of the ‘Fight Camp’ concept in the grounds of Matchroom’s headquarters in Brentwood, Essex, the events originally held as a way of giving TV viewers a different spectacle when events were being held behind closed doors.
Fiaz was scheduled to be part of the original series last summer but fell ill on the eve of his contest with Kane Baker, the decorated amateur then winning the rescheduled fight in October after a real war of words.
He has not fought since but is now raring to go having recently spent time in Las Vegas training and supporting gym mate Chantelle Cameron in her successful world title defence against Melissa Hernandez.
The August 7 show, headlined by Sheffield’s Kid Galahad and Liverpool’s Jazza Dickens meeting in an all-British clash for the vacant IBF World featherweight title, is the second of three weeks of Fight Camp action that are the start of Matchroom’s partnership with streaming platform DAZN after moving on from their long-term agreement with Sky Sports.
Details of the limited tickets available are still to be confirmed.
