OLDHAM Athletic have put matchday and season tickets back on sale, just a week after suspending them.
Latics put a block on ticket sales for non season tickets holders for last weekend’s trip to Leyton Orient, and Saturday’s visit of Hartlepool United.
Fans, however, were still able to flock to Brisbane Road as Leyton Orient made their 500 away allocation available for pay on the day purchases.
And today Latics have reversed their decision to freeze out fans.
The move comes after head coach Keith Curle called for unity at every level of the club as they bid to arrest a run of six defeats in seven league games that has left them bottom of League Two.
Latics suspended ticket sales in response to recent protests against the club's ownership at Boundary Park and those that were planned and publicised for away games at Leyton Orient and Rochdale either side of the home game with Hartlepool United.
Amid concerns that they would be forced to play behind closed doors if the pitch invasions were to continue, a club statement regarding the ticket freeze said that meetings had been held with the police and local authorities.
Although there was a strong police presence for the end of Latics’ last home game, against Barrow, after the game was interrupted by a second half pitch invasion, The Oldham Times received assurances that Latics’ ticketing was not based on the advice of Greater Manchester Police. It is also understood that it was not a directive from the EFL either.
The ticket sales suspension did not deter fans' protest plans. If anything it fuelled them, with supporters encouraged to congregate outside of the club's main entrance on Furtherwood Road at 2pm on Saturday.
Fans group Push The Boundary's message is: "Turn up in your numbers, make your voices heard and let the owner know that we want him to sell the club and let us enjoy a brighter future."
