JUNIOR Luamba's stoppage-time goal gave Oldham a dramatic first league win of the season, having left it late to stage their comeback.
David Ajiboye had given Sutton a 62nd minute lead in their first home game in the Football League.
Latics captain Carl Piergianni equalised in the 88th minute before Luamba, who scored the winning penalty against Accrington in the cup in midweek, slotted home his first for the club in the sixth minute of stoppage time, following good work by Dylan Bahamboula.
Bahamboula had posed the main threat for the Latics and had probably the best chance for Keith Curle's side in the first half, when he wriggled free but put his long-range effort just over.
But Sutton also had opportunities and converted one of them just after the hour, when Ajiboye lashed home a rebound after Craig Eastmond's stunning strike crashed off the crossbar and fell into the winger's path.
The Football League newcomers edged this encounter until the death against, but Latics showed real resolve.
Davis Keillor-Dunn's cross picked out Piergianni in the box and his header went in off the post.
And Keillor-Dunn turned provider again as Luamba hit a late, late winner - getting Latics off the mark, and off the bottom, after ending a run of four league defeats on the spin.
