Latics suffered a cruel late defeat against League One side Leyton Orient in the FA Cup second round.
Micky Mellon's side led through Manny Monthe's goal until the ninth minute of stoppage time, when Orient keeper Josh Keeley headed home to take the tie beyond 90 minutes.
Dan Agyei missed a penalty in extra time and a shoot-out seemed to be on the cards, but the forward broke Oldham hearts when he nodded in at the death.
Latics were good value for their lead when Monthe got a touch on Reagan Ogle's long throw to squeeze the ball in at the near post two minutes after the restart.
It took until the latter stages for Orient to impose themselves on the game and Keeley's equaliser was a sucker punch after getting on the end of Tom James' set piece.
The hosts were awarded a spot kick when Ollie O'Neill was judged to have been fouled in the box, but Agyei failed to hit the target from 12 yards.
Orient's blushes were spared when the striker headed home a last-gasp winner in a crowded penalty area, securing a place in the third round.
