OLDHAM have made another high-profile signing after Adam Milner became the second player to sign a two-year deal, following the Roughyeds’ promotion to the Championship, Kasey Smith.

32-year-old Milner, a Super League stalwart, has made over 300 appearances all in the top-flight, primarily for hometown club Castleford Tigers.

And the hooker, equally adept at loose forward, is eager to deliver more success to Oldham after their recent League One title triumph.

“I see myself as a winner,” said the former Huddersfield man. “I want to be winning games and being competitive. The last two years I have been at two clubs who have not been competing which has been pretty disappointing.

“I now want to have success at this great club, I pride myself on working hard and have been tough all my career.

“I will never take a backward step and if I can bring that to this club in the Championship then we will do alright and hopefully we can have some success here.”

As well as a long and successful career in Super League, Milner also earned an England call-up in 2018 where he featured in a 44-6 win over France and went on to make two more appearances against New Zealand in series.

Milner has been at the heart of the Tigers’ success in recent years’, playing a key role in the club reaching the Grand Final in 2017 as well as the Challenge Cup Final in 2021.

Boss Sean Long was delighted to get Milner’s signing over the line and said he will add to the squad’s experience.

“He’s a great leader,” said Long. “He has experience of playing in Super League and he will set the standards even higher from where we were in League One.

“He’s really excited to be on our journey and is a great bloke who is honest and humble.

“That is exactly what we need going forward, it’s a massive coup for us.”
