Oldham Athletic have parted company with defender Liam Hogan by mutual consent.

The 35-year-old captained the club for his first two seasons after signing in the summer of 2022.

But the armband changed hands in the summer with Tom Conlon being given that responsibility by manager Micky Mellon.

Hogan, who has previously won promotion from the National League with Salford City and Stockport County, triggered an appearance based one-year contract extension last season, but has not featured this season.

A club statement read: "Defender Liam Hogan has left Oldham Athletic by mutual consent.

"The 35-year-old joined Latics in the summer of 2022, becoming John Sheridan's first summer signing.

"The defender was appointed captain for the 2022/23 season and the following campaign, going on to make 82 appearances for the club and scoring two goals.

"The club would like to thank Liam for his contributions over the past three season, as well as his professionalism off and on the pitch.

"We wish Liam well in his future endeavours."
