I celebrated my 40th birthday on Tuesday in the best way possible with Oldham getting another superb three points to double our weekend tally.

With two clean sheets as well, this was an excellent few days for us as we showed all the key characteristics of a team who can be challenging right at the very top of the National League this season.

We have found the consistency that we craved in the first few games and this has allowed the quality throughout the squad to come to the fore.

Against Yeovil on Saturday, we thoroughly dominated the entire 90 minutes and really should have turned that domination into a few more goals although it was probably written in the stars for the in-form Mike Fondop to score the solitary goal, and winner, in front of his Dad.

A lovely moment for the Fondop family but it also showed just how together this squad is as every man celebrated with him, showing his undoubted personal popularity but also just how important that goal was to the lads.

After last season this is really great to see, and that grit, determination and desire to win was on show again on Tuesday night as we defeated in-form Forest Green with relative comfort.

Fondop again takes the plaudits with an outstanding goal that fully deserved to win the game after a great move, but the whole team - and subs too - deserve all the credit for another controlling performance led from the back by the superb Manny Monthe and Charlie Raglan, who in both games barely put a foot wrong and ensured that both opponents didn’t really get close to scoring.

Reagan Ogle also needs a special mention after dealing with Frank Nouble on Saturday at centre half as well as setting up the winner then switching to wing back against Forest Green and putting in another stellar display, with Shaun Hobson performing well on his return at centre half behind him.

With Tom Conlon and Josh Lundstram also stepping up and winning the midfield battle, showing the kind of form we have expected of them, this was a very satisfying victory against a promotion rival and one which sees us firmly ensconced in the leading group in the league.

Positivity abounds after three straight wins, and the televised trip to Ebbsfleet on Saturday gives an ideal opportunity to extend that run still further.
