Harry Charsley is loving playing in front of the Boundary Park crowd.

The midfielder has been an ever-present in Latics' six National League games so far, including three at home.

And with Southend United to come on Saturday, Charsley says the supporters are key to helping the club stay unbeaten on home turf.

"I enjoy playing at home and I think we've played pretty well there this season so hopefully that can continue," said the former Mansfield and Newport County man.

"It's great to play in front of the fans, they are very loud and make a brilliant atmosphere."

Charsley has had an instant impact since his summer move to OL1, scoring on his debut in the 3-0 win over Braintree, and in the first away game to secure a 1-0 win at Wealdstone.

The 27-year-old has also contributed assists and was integral to James Norwood scoring his first of the season in last weekend's 1-1 draw at Altrincham.

"I just pressed my guy and everyone backed me up as well. Luckily Norwood was able to finish it off," said Charsley.

"All over the pitch I thought everyone was pressing people and tight to them so it worked, we just didn't get the win in the end.

"We've got to start trying to win more games and turn one point into three.

"We are creating chances, we're getting balls into the box. We could have had a lot of goals (on Saturday).

"We've got to be more clinical and take chances when we get them. But we are getting chances and hopefully that continues and we can put them away now."

Ahead of Saturday's visit of Southend (kick-off 3pm), Charsley added: "I think it's been a solid start. I think we'd probably want more wins but we just have to move on to the next game and try to put it right.

"I don't think we're far away, we've just got to work hard now in the week and try to be more ruthless and work on everything."
