Three first-half goals for the hosts at Chasetown were enough to keep Avro at bay until the final whistle in Saturday’s NPL West fixture, writes Louie Kennedy.

The chase proved to be too much for The RO’ as they were reduced to nine men in the second-half and the match ended at 3-0 to the Scholars.

It took 27 minutes for the hosts to post their first goal which came in the way of a George Cater rocket into the top right corner.

This was followed up soon after by a Joe Dunne effort that fired past Avro Keeper Grant Shenton to double the lead in the 35th minute.

Jack Langston further rubbed salt into the wound by scoring his 150th goal for Chasetown just before half-time.

A tighter second-half saw Avro stem the goals but by then the damage had been done.
