An early goal in the sixth minute for hosts Wythenshawe Town saw Avro suffer a 1-0 defeat on the road in their first away game of the season, writes Rob Currell.
Rodney Ajayi slotted a shot past Grant Shenton after a good run to give the hosts an early lead.
Difficult conditions saw the match affected by lengthy periods of poor weather.
Avro struggled to get back into the first-half but started showing a bit more quality towards half-time.
The hosts went into the break with the lead before the game recommenced.
The second-half was better for The RO as the attacking players started to generate more opportunities.
The game descended into a scrappy affair and the hosts were reduced to ten men in the 73rd minute when Issac Abankwah was shown his second yellow in a matter of minutes.
The Wythenshawe player was subsequently shown a red and given his marching orders off the pitch but not before a scuffle ensued.
Tempers flared in the final stages of the game as The RO came close a number of times but were unable to capitalise.
A good save from the hosts’ keeper just before the final whistle summed up the night as Avro came off the field to a narrow defeat.
Dom Smalley was awarded the man-of-the-match accolades for his performance and Avro will now look towards the FA Cup fixture at home against Bury on Saturday.
