Dale Harris has been appointed Oldham Athletic's new head of commercial and business development manager.

And the Latics fan believes he has joined his boyhood club at an "exciting time" after a successful 12 months in a similar role with non-league neighbours Chadderton, alongside growing his own sports and education business across Greater Manchester and Oldham over the last eight years.

Harris is an Oldham resident and integrated within the Oldham business network.

He has worked at the club previously with Oldham Athletic Community Trust. Having started as a matchday volunteer, he progressed to become an employed coach and also worked in the Trust's education programme.

“I’m looking forward to this opportunity enormously. I’m an Oldham fan, I have lived here all of my life and to come back now in this capacity is amazing,” he said.

“This is a hugely exciting time to be joining the club in a full-time capacity. The Rothwell family and Darren Royle have done so much for Oldham Athletic over the last two years and to now be working in this role is a huge honour.

“Since starting my own business in 2016, and even before that, I have been engaging with local businesses and working with them, from the Oldham Business Awards to setting up the Business Education Alliance which connects businesses with schools in order to provide better opportunities for young people.

“At Chadderton, we enjoyed great success with the number of new partners we were able to introduce to the Chadderton commercial family.

“The opportunity for me to leverage that at Oldham Athletic will be huge. First of all, we need to make sure our current partners are looked after, and going forward, we need to make sure the club is accessible to all businesses."

Harris added: “We’ve got great partnerships with the likes of The RRG Group and our goal now is to develop those with the number of wider opportunities we have for partners to engage with.

“It’s an incredibly exciting time to be joining the club and I’m looking forward enormously to growing our network.”
