Micky Mellon does not believe the injury Jesurun Uchegbulam suffered in the last minute of Saturday's friendly at home to Lincoln City is cause for concern.

The winger, who came off the bench in the second half of the goalless draw, had to be helped off the pitch by two members of the Latics backroom team after what appeared to be a clash of knees between himself and an opponent within a minute of the full-time whistle.

While the players made their way off the pitch at the end of the game, Uchegbulam remained in the centre circle, laid out on his back and receiving treatment.

But, while it looked serious, Mellon was not anticipating a longer term problem for the summer signing.

When asked about the incident, the Latics boss said: "Jez will be okay."

Oldham were without Oli Hammond and Dan Gardner for the visit of Lincoln after both sustained minor injuries in midweek at Warrington Rylands.

"Oli Hammond stretched his groin against Warrington, Dan Gardner took a bit of a knock there as well," said Mellon who was already without strikers James Norwood and Joe Garner, with both touch and go for the start of the season.

Norwood suffered a calf injury on the first day of pre-season training, while Garner has not yet been involved in full training this summer following surgery on his shoulder.

"Norwood's probably another two or three weeks, Garner's probably another two or three weeks," said the Latics boss.

"Norwood's is just a calf problem. Garner might be a wee bit longer because he had a shoulder op. He is running.

"I don't really like putting times on things but it isn't anything massively long term. Calf's are four to six weeks for anybody so it will be about that for James, and for Joe it will be when Sos (physio Ian Liversedge) believes he is ready to wrestle with people again. That's the thing. He's running but it's the impact element."
