Latics have announced the signing of Reagan Ogle from Scunthorpe United on a two-year deal.

The versatile 25-year-old usually operates as a right-back but can also play on the left of defence or the right of midfield.

Ogle recently had spells in League Two and the National League with Hartlepool United and Scunthorpe respectively.

“I’m very pleased to be here and to have signed for such a fantastic club,” he said after securing a move to Boundary Park.

“I wanted a challenge with my next move, and I’m really looking forward to the chance to step up and test myself.

“I’ve played at this level before and the opportunity to be part of a competitive side in this division is something I’m relishing. I’m a right-back by trade, I like to get forward, attack and leave it all out there.”

Ogle was born in Australia and moved to England aged 11, initially joining Accrington Stanley’s youth ranks. He had several loan spells, including two seasons at Stockport, before heading to Victoria Park.

The full-back received the Players’ Player of the Year award during his first campaign at Scunthorpe and was an important member of the squad last term.

“We’ve been paying close attention to a number of right backs but we feel Reagan ticks every box we require,” manager Micky Mellon added.

“Reagan has got a good pedigree, has had two good years at Scunthorpe and has shown he has got what it takes to play well consistently at this level.

“We want footballers who are going to come in and help us do well and that’s certainly the case with Reagan.

“We’ve worked hard to get this deal done and I’m really pleased we’ve got a player who will play an important in filling the right back position.”
