AVRO'S new managerial duo David Birch and Mike Norton have made their second signing of the week following the arrival of promising young full back AJ Warburton, writes Rob Currell.
After underlining their ambitions with the capture of talented forward Benito Lowe from Bury, Birch and Norton have further strengthened their squad for the NPL West 2024/25 campaign with the signature of the teenage defender.
The 18-year-old made 46 appearances for North West Counties Football League Division One South Side as Droylsden pushed for promotion but ultimately fell short despite their excellent efforts.
Warburton contributed a total of 15 goals and assists for The Bloods last season.
The Avro joint management team said they had watched Warburton in action on several occasions.
“He is a young lad with a lot of potential,” said Norton. “We think he will end up playing at a good standard.
“He is only 18, he is energetic and gets around the field.
“AJ is one for the future and he will be a good addition to our team. We are looking forward to him joining and are excited to work with him.”
