Oldham Athletic's out of contract players could find out today (Tuesday) whether they have a future with the club or not.

Manager Micky Mellon is set to meet with those whose deals run out at the end of June to discuss whether he sees them as part of his plans for next season at Boundary Park.

First teamers Dan Gardner, Mike Fondop, Harrison McGahey and Hallam Hope are among those who will sit down with Mellon at Boundary Park today to learn of their fate.

"They are conversations that we'll have on Tuesday," said Mellon, who said a lot of his decisions going forward would be based on budget.

"We need sit down and see where we're going to be with that but we're certainly in a position at the minute where we've got a lot of jostling and a lot of wheeling and dealing to do.

I have a situation now where I have a lot of players out of contract, most of the group, and I don't have certain positions in the team or certain types of players in the group that are needed in order to make Oldham successful. It would be very difficult to make it the type of team that you want to see with the group that we have, it needs help. This group needs help. It needs more.

"It needs players to come in and help carry along the ones that would be able to take part in a team and be successful at this level. It needs help. It's difficult because I think we're even over budget, so we might even have to reduce it somehow. That's what the situation is and we will work very closely with the family and Darren. We've had meetings and we know the way ahead is a lot of hard work, and a lot of talking, and hopefully we can do something."
