Oldham Athletic Academy graduate Aaron Atkinson has signed for Barnsley for an undisclosed compensation fee and package.
The 18-year-old midfielder, who completed his two-year scholarship at Boundary Park in the summer, joins the U21 set-up at Oakwell after an agreement was reached between the clubs.
Atkinson has been with Latics since signing as an Under 15 from Blackburn Rovers, progressing through the Academy and continuing his development in the Youth Team.
A club statement reads: “On behalf of everyone at the club and within the academy, we’d like to wish Aaron all the best for his future career.”
