John Rooney has joined Macclesfield after leaving Oldham Athletic by mutual consent.
The former midfielder, who is the brother of former Manchester United and England striker Wayne, joined the club almost a year ago but fell out of favour under manager David Unsworth.
A statement on the club website said: “Oldham Athletic can confirm that John Rooney has left the club by mutual consent.
“The 32-year-old signed for the club in September 2022, making 32 league appearances, scoring two goals.
“The club would like to thank John for his contributions over the past 11 months, and wish him all the best in the future.”
