Sydie Peck has been recalled from his Latics loan spell by Sheffield United.
The 18-year-old had made nine appearances for Oldham after joining the club in November, including eight starts, and had recently extended his youth loan from the Blades.
But Peck was not part of the Latics squad that faced Aldershot at the EEB Stadium on Saturday, and the club have today confirmed that he has returned to Bramall Lane.
Peck believes he returns to his parent club a better player for his Boundary Park experience.
"It's been good. It's been a lot different and a challenge, but a challenge that I like and one that I wanted to take," said the teenager.
"I've definitely learnt a lot and got a lot of experience and I've enjoyed it.
"Hopefully by the end of the season the club gets what it wants and gets as far up the table as it can."
Peck's last appearance was as a late substitute in the win over York City in Latics' last home game, with new signing Mark Shelton starting ahead of him.
