Oldham Athletic are trying to sign exciting winger Ryan Colclough from Altrincham.
The Oldham Times understands Latics have lodged a bid with their National League rivals but have yet to reach an agreement.
Latics have been working on a deal to land Colclough in recent weeks, viewing him as someone who could be a real asset to their attacking play and supply the forwards that have recently been brought into the club.
But their efforts to prise him from Moss Lane have so far been met with resistance.
In the meantime, Latics are working on securing loan extensions for existing players and have been successful in securing Timmy Abraham until the end of the season.
The striker, who initially joined from Walsall in October on a deal until the beginning of January, will remain with the club for the rest of the campaign.
Abraham has started four games since his arrival with a further three substitute appearances.
The 21-year-old has made an impact with his pace and direct running in particular, most notably when he came off the bench to score the winning goal in our last league game at Boundary Park, against Torquay United.
Abraham, who is the brother of Roma’s former Chelsea striker Tammy, is part of a reshaped forward line in recent months which now includes Alex Reid and Joe Nuttall.
