David Unsworth’s first home game in charge of Latics is set to be played in front of the biggest Latics crowd of the season, prompting the game to be made all-ticket, with no pay on the day option.
Wrexham have sold out their entire away allocation of 2,520, contributing to what could be Oldham’s largest home attendance for a league fixture since the visit of Leeds United in October 2007, which was watched by 10,054.
Of today's ticket only policy, a club statement read: “Following discussions with the Safety Advisory Group (SAG) and Greater Manchester Police (GMP), the home fixture against Wrexham on Saturday 1 October (3pm KO) will be all ticket with no pay on the day.
“With a large crowd anticipated supporters are advised to arrive at the ground in plenty of time to access the ground safely.”
Collections of pre-purchased tickets will still be available on the day of the game at Boundary Park, if bought in advance.
The game is a clash between two managers from the same town, with both Unsworth and Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson hailing from Chorley.
“Phil’s a great bloke and he has done, and is doing, a great job,” said Unsworth.
“I wish them all the luck and all the best after Saturday, because there are some great people there, but for us it’s about winning.”
