Latics have announced that Tommy Wright has left his position as first team coach at Boundary Park.
Wright played for Oldham during two spells in the 1980s and also served as assistant to both John Sheridan and Lee Johnson.
He returned to the club alongside Sheridan in January but departs following the recent managerial change.
A club statement read: “The 56-year-old remains a hugely respected figure at Boundary Park for a number of spells with the club, initially as a player, making 140 appearances during two periods in the 1980s.
“He later worked as a coach under Lee Johnson and Sheridan, developing a close working relationship with the latter and returning to the club midway through last campaign.
“Like Sheridan, Wright will always have a special place in the affections of everyone at Boundary Park.
“We’d like to thank Tommy for the commitment he has always shown to the club and wish him the very best for the future.”
Latics are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Phil Parkinson's in-form Wrexham side to Boundary Park (KO 3pm).
David Unsworth's side are currently 15th in the National League table following Saturday's 3-0 defeat against Bromley, having picked up 11 points from their opening 10 matches.
