Latics have completed the signing of midfielder Lois Maynard on a one-year contract.
Maynard can also play across the backline and arrives at Boundary Park following his departure from Stockport County.
The 33-year-old spent time on loan at Solihull Moors last season, making 32 appearances as the club reached the National League play-off final at the London Stadium.
He also has experience on the international stage, having represented the Saint Kitts and Nevis national team.
“It’s vitally important we build a squad with quality and experience in key areas and signing Lois is a significant move in that respect,” said Latics boss John Sheridan.
“Lois knows what the National League is all about, he has been part of a number of very successful sides in the division and will help bring the sort of mindset we need to do well during the season ahead.
“He is a versatile player who is comfortable in a number of defensive positions, he is an extremely good operator and he will play a very important role as we look forward to the new season.”
Maynard caught the eye while playing for Chadderton early in his career and earned a move to Halifax.
The versatile midfielder went on to make 87 appearances across two seasons with the Shaymen before heading to Tranmere Rovers in the summer of 2015.
He played 68 times for the Merseyside club before heading to Salford, where he was part of the squad that won promotion to the Football League for the first time in the club’s history.
Maynard joined Stockport in February 2020 after a two-and-a-half-year spell with the Ammies but was not involved as Dave Challinor’s side clinched the National League title last term.
The 33-year-old becomes the latest name to join Latics as the club aims to bounce back from last season’s relegation from League Two. The move is subject to the relevant FA and League approval.
