HEYSIDE continued their fine start to the new Greater Manchester Cricket League Premier Division season with a three-wicket win at Greenfield.
The hosts made 256-9 batting first, sub professional James Price making 66 and Chris Gill 52 as Daniel Cashin took 4-73.
And in a high-scoring game, Heyside got over the line with more than seven overs to spare.
Ben Holt led the way with 60 from 50 balls at the top of the order before becoming one of Kartik Joshi’s victims as he took 3-65.
Cashin then completed a fine performance by steering his side home with an unbeaten 35.
Elsewhere in the top flight Glodwick beat Moorside by 43 runs.
Zain Tahir made 54 and Farukh Shaghir 44 as the hosts posted 239-9 batting first, Shahid Mahmood the pick of the bowlers with 3-29.
It proved to be enough as Arkam Zeer’s 6-68 helped dismiss Moorside for 196 in reply, Cameron Murray making 49.
In Premier 2, Woodhouses made it two wins out of two with victory by 111 runs at home to Walshaw.
Nick Hardman blasted 164 from just 112 balls in a total of 312-4. Hardman hit 17 fours and eight sixes in his two hours at the crease.
Walshaw were then dismissed for 201, Josh Butler taking 6-21 as Shahrukh Khan top scored with 36.
Royton went down to a 98-run defeat at Edgworth.
Paid man Umega Chathuranga was the star of the show for the hosts. After Nigel Hallows made 50, Chathuranga hit 47 from 33 deliveries to help the home side post 279-6 from their 50 overs, Harry Leghorn taking 3-59.
The Sri Lankan then took 7-33 to dismiss Royton for 181 who had Liam Brown playing a lone hand as he finished unbeaten on 90.
In the Championship Friarmere were 122-run winners at Shaw.
Nathan Walker made 51 and Jamie King 49 as Friarmere were dismissed for 188, Dilanka Sandakan taking 5-47.
King then completed a good day with 4-11 as Shaw were skittled out for just 66, only three batsmen making double figures.
Uppermill were eight-wicket winners at home to Whalley Range.
The visitors were all out for 160 with David Roberts taking 5-53 before scoring 44 at the top of the order as Uppermill won with almost 20 overs in hand.
Peter Roberts finished unbeaten on 47 with Kyle Hogg not out 20.
Peter Skuse fired Saddleworth to a 91-run win at Micklehurst in Division 2B.
He scored an unbeaten 187 in Saddleworth’s 357-4, hitting 16 fours and 12 sixes in his 137-ball innings.
Daniel Clayton then scored 78 at the top of the order in reply as Micklehurst finished on 266-9, Steven Howard taking 4-93.
Werneth were 59-run winners at Glossop 2s, Dildar Shahzad taking 7-24 to dismiss the hosts for 173 as they chased 233 for victory.
Springhead were well beaten at home to Wythenshawe.
The visitors posted 332-7, Imran Amanat the pick of the bowlers with 4-61. Springhead were then however all out for just 42 inside 15 overs with no batsman managing to reach double figures.
Ashton went down to a 25-run defeat at Whalley Range 2s.
In Division 4E Failsworth Macedonia beat Springhead 2s by 189 runs.
Jake Kirby scored a stunning 118 not out from just 60 balls in a total of 313-9 before the visitors were dismissed for 124.
