HEYSIDE piled on the runs against Glodwick in a big opening-day win in the GMCL Premier League.
The hosts made 328-5 batting first on the way to a 97-run victory to kick off the new campaign.
Openers Ben Holt, 101, and Chirag Khurana, 94, led the charge, putting on 155 for the first wicket.
In reply, Glodwick looked to be on the end of real hiding before Arkam Zeer blitzed 115 from just 84 balls. He lacked support however as Tom Avery took 5-41 and the visitors were dismissed for 231.
Elsewhere in the GMCL’s top flight, Moorside went down to a 62-run defeat at home to Prestwich, for whom James Wharmby made 105.
Greenfield also tasted defeat, by 47 runs against Egerton. Adam Robinson took 6-34 as the hosts were bowled out for 169 but the visitors came up short as they were dismissed for 122.
In Premier 2, Woodhouses cantered to a routine win at Royton by nine wickets.
The home side were all out for 118, Craig Joy’s unbeaten 53 averting total disaster down the order as Nick Hardman took 6-44.
In reply, Matthew Taylor finished unbeaten on 59 with Hashan Gunathilika 41 not out.
Shaw won by two wickets at Edenfield in the GMCL Championship.
Dilanka Sandakan took 6-45 to dismiss the hosts for 146 before top scoring with 28 as the visitors picked up an opening day win.
Uppermill went down to a 67-run defeat at Winton and Friarmere also tasted defeat, by 71 runs at home to Westleigh.
In Division One, Oldham were five-run winners at home to Adlington while Austerlands thumped Droylsden by 10 wickets.
Akbar ur Rehman’s 6-32 helped dismiss the visitors for just 114 with Adam Sunderland then top scoring with an unbeaten 59.
Saddleworth were the big winners in Division 2B, Frannie Sutherland making 78 and Asad Ali 59 as they posted 280 in a 222-run win against Littleborough Lakeside
Steven Howard, 4-5, and Mohammed Shakir, 4-27, then helped skittle out Lakeside for 58.
Werneth were one-wicket winners at Ashton, chasing down 158 for victory in the final over of a tight contest. Micklehurst also beat Whalley Range 2s by five wickets, Amir Shazad taking 5-44 but Springhead went down to a six-wicket defeat against Denton St Lawrence 2s.
In Division 4E, Woodhouses 2s beat Ashton Ladysmith by 12 runs.
