HARRY Vaughan's 'no fear' factor has been a breath of fresh air for head coach Harry Kewell.
The Latics youngster followed up his Football League debut from the bench in last week's home defeat to Barrow with another cameo appearance in the 2-0 loss to Bolton Wanderers at Boundary Park on Tuesday night.
Although the youth team product only had a few minutes of action in the midweek derby, coming on for the injured Harry Clarke in the 85th minute, he made another positive impact on Kewell and contributed to a second half performance in which Latics refused to let their heads drop despite the scoreline and one-man deficit following Kyle Jameson's first-half dismissal.
And while Vaughan has yet to taste victory on the pitch, having been an unused substitute when Oldham came back from behind to win at Carlisle in between his last two appearances, Kewell is encouraged by the confidence the teenager exudes.
"I think it was excellent for him to come on," said the Latics boss.
"Clearly he's not afraid of anything, which is good.
"He was happy to get on the ball, he was comfortable, he did a nice little turn, he got on the ball and he challenged. Fantastic."
