A bar is to open in a cafe after plans for a change of use and extension were given permission.

The bar will open inside what is now Latte Lounge coffee shop on Rochdale Road and will see the erection of a single storey rear extension and a new shop front.

The rear extension will be an aluminium glazed light structure which will hold seating.

It will have a roof which is able to open the space to an outdoors feel, allowing for a hybrid seating area.

The bar will also have timber cladding outside on the lower section of the building.

The interior layout of the area will remain much the same, with the addition of currently completely the outside seating space being replaced with the extension.

The bar will be keeping the existing kitchen inside and the application outlined permission for the sale of food and drink.

No objection or support comments were received on the application, but the council have ruled that the bar only be open to customers between 9am and 2am daily.

However, the establishment must keep windows, doors and roof to the new extension as well as the Rochdale Road facing window must remain closed at all times between 9pm and 2am.

Oldham Council made this decision to protect the amenity of neighbouring properties.

Before the development can occur, Oldham Council require a site investigation to identify the extent of land contamination and for the results to be submitted and approved by the planning authority.

The Oldham Times has reached out to the applicants for more information on the upcoming bar.
