A shared house in Oldham will remain in a former pub after a retrospective planning application was given the go-ahead.

The former Farmers Boy Inn on Huddersfield Road was completed as a 10-bed HMO on July 12 this year and a retrospective application was received by the council six days later on July 18.

Approval was given to the development on Tuesday, November 19.

The plans outlined the erection of multiple interior walls as well as doors to close of access to areas such as the basement, which will only be open for maintenance and repairs.

The work has already been completed and tenants have moved into the property, according to the application form.

The property now has a capacity for 15 people to live there, with five single occupancy rooms and five double occupancy ones.

There are now four rooms on the ground floor, two doubles and two singles, as opposed to a previously largely open plan ground floor.

Upstairs has seen minor changes and has six rooms evenly split with single and doubles and all rooms on both floors have ensuite toilets and showers.

There is also now a communal kitchen and dining area on the ground floor.

Secure cycle storage has been added to the rear of the building in a former yard area along with an areas for refuse waste storage.

The application received no objection or support letters during the consultation period and the planning officer found it to be compliant with all relevant housing policies.

In the report, a planning officer noted the location's good links to shopping areas and public transport links.

It is only a 10-minute walk to the nearest shopping site and a "few minutes" walk to the closest bus stop.

All of the rooms were found to comply with the standards for houses in multiple occupation and are of suitable sizes.

The cycle storage means the development is in line with requirements set by the highway engineer.
