Bins due on Wednesday, December 25, will be collected on Saturday, December 28, including green bins and food caddies.
Bins due on Thursday, December 26, will be collected earlier, on Saturday, December 21. This collection does not include green bins and food caddies.
In the new year, bins due on Wednesday, January 1, will be collected on Saturday, January 4.
Green bins and food caddies will not be emptied here and will instead be collected as normal on Wednesday, January 8.
Real Christmas trees can also be disposed of and recycled with the Council.
Residents are advised to take off all lights and decorations and chop the tree into small pieces to put it in the green bin.
The wooden block from the base will need to be removed as it is too large to be composted.
Alternatively, Christmas trees can be taken to Arkwright Street Household Waste and Recycling Centre, along with any other extra Christmas waste, or leave it at a collection point in a park from December 28 to January 15.
The parks where residents can drop off their Christmas tree are:
- Higher Memorial Park (car park), Joseph Street, Failsworth, from 7.30am until dusk
- Royton Park (car park) off Bleasdale Street, Royton, from 7.30am until dusk
- Werneth Park (car park) off Frederick Street, Werneth, from 7.30am until dusk
- Churchill Playing Fields (car park), Wellington Road, Greenfield, with anytime access
- George Street Playing Fields (car park) off Milnrow Road, Shaw, with anytime access
