An investigation has been launched after reports a gun was fired in Oldham over the weekend.

On Friday, November 15, officers were called to reports of a firearms discharge at around 9.50pm on Crompton Street in Coldhurst.

It is believed no one was injured in the incident and no arrests have been made.

Residents said there was a cordon across the street throughout the weekend and into Monday (November 18).

Photographs show there was a huge police presence on the street and nearby, as police cars blocked the road and a Tactical Aid Unit van also appeared.

A resident, who did not wish to be named, said: "Another afternoon, another cordon.

"Just another standard day in Coldhurst."

The news comes as another police cordon was set up across Cunningham Way to Crompton Street just weeks ago on Friday, October 25, when officers were called to another firearms incident near Raleigh Close.

Greater Manchester Police said it is now investigating the latest incident.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Police are investigating a firearms discharge that took place on Friday, November 15 at around 9.50pm on Crompton Street, Oldham.

"Thankfully, no one was injured. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

"Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and assist their investigation.

"Anyone with any dash cam, doorbell or mobile footage can submit it to police on 0161 856 9091. quoting the log number 890 of 16/11/24.
