Children at a borough school have been applauding after raising more than £875 for charity.
Youngsters at Year 6 at Saint Joseph's RC Junior, Infant, and Nursery School in Shaw were praised for their exceptional efforts to support Dr Kershaw's Hospice in Royton and The Diocese of Salford's Caritas Charity.
The £879.06 was raised through a series of creative and fun events, including a Christmas cupcake competition, a Mince Pie and Merriment coffee morning, a day of the dead competition, and an Easter Garden competition.
Cath Knowles, the Year 6 teacher who led the initiative, said: "The children were so enthusiastic and passionate about supporting these charities.
"They came up with so many wonderful ideas and worked tirelessly as a team to bring them to life.
"The children really took ownership of the projects.
"They divided up tasks, delegated responsibilities, and encouraged each other every step of the way.
"It was amazing to see their teamwork and community spirit in action."
Headteacher Garry Needle said: "We place a strong emphasis on Catholic Social Teaching and our Gospel values at Saint Joseph's.
"The success of this initiative demonstrates how our children are learning to become caring, compassionate, and socially responsible citizens.
"Working towards a common goal like this really strengthened the bonds between the children.
"They supported one another, celebrated their wins, and learned valuable life skills in the process.
"It's an experience they'll carry with them forever."
The beneficiaries of the pupils' fundraising efforts were equally grateful.
Dr Kershaw's Hospice spokesperson, Jill Kirkham, said: "We are delighted to receive the monies raised by Year 6.
"What a wonderful amount for them to have raised.
"This amount of money goes a long way in helping to support our patients and their families at a time when they need us most and for that we are truly grateful.
"We really couldn’t do what we do without the consistent support like your school gives us."
Caritas Charity representative, Kirstie Davidson, said: "Thanks once again to your whole school family for their generosity and for sharing what they have with those in need, especially during these difficult times.
"Together, we will ensure that no one is left behind."
The selfless actions of the Year 6 children have 'set an example for their peers, both within the school and across the wider Shaw community.'
Mrs Knowles said: "I couldn't be more proud of our Year 6 class.
"They've demonstrated that no matter your age, you can make a real difference when you set your mind to it.
"These children are the future leaders and change-makers of our community and I have no doubt they'll continue to do amazing things."
The fundraising efforts not only benefited the charities but also brought the Year 6 class closer together, teaching them life skills in the process.
