A 15-year-old boy has been arrested following nine reports of knifepoint robbery in Oldham.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the boy has been arrested on suspicion of robbery as they continue to investigate the knifepoint robberies, which targeted people on e-bikes and delivery drivers in Oldham.

The incidents are alleged to have taken place between October 7 and 13 in the Ripponden Road and Waterhead areas of the borough.

GMP have said that the boy currently remains in custody.

One of the victims of the robberies was left with minor injuries.

Three other teenagers, two boys and girl aged between 14 and 16, have been charged in relation to these incidents and are have been released on court bail while they await their next court appearance.

Police also said four cars and a motorbike have been recovered and returned these to their rightful owners as part of their investigation.

Detective Inspector Mike Ogiliev, who is leading the investigation for GMP, said: “This concerning set of reports very quickly was identified by us as being a linked series.

“We have had increased visible patrols since the first incidents to provide reassurance to the local community, and the victims have been supported throughout.

“Tackling robbery, particularly those that come with violence or threats of violence, is very important to us.

Across Greater Manchester, knife-enabled robbery offences have seen reductions from approximately 100 incidents per month to 97 in the last 12 months, with police adding that solved outcomes are up.
