An Oldham cafe which dubbed itself the "best Asian restaurant in Oldham" has been given a two-star food hygiene rating.
Zaminas Cafe and Catering, in Unit 4 of Thornton House on Crossbank Way, was found to be in violation of food safety practices.
The reasons for the rating have come to light after an inspection report was released to The Oldham Times following a Freedom of Information request.
The cafe was told it needed to have hot water, soap and paper towels available at a hand washing basin in the kitchen.
This requirement was due to be met immediately and it also included placing the same amenities in the toilet hand wash basin.
The cafe also was told by a food hygiene inspector that it must present a gas safety certificate within a week of the inspection.
Other requirements included painting the storage room walls and installing shelving in there.
Zaminas was also found to not have an adequate worktop for food preparation and was told to secure one.
The final requirement told the cafe to improve its records which are required to be taken daily.
Food hygiene inspections are carried out nationally by food safety officers from the council.
Zaminas was inspected by an officer on August 12.
The Oldham Times contacted Zaminas Cafe, which describes itself on its website as the "best Asian food restaurant in Oldham", for comment but did not receive a response.
