Plans to develop six bedsits and a new retail unit in a building currently operating as a cake shop have been approved.
A proposal was originally submitted in October last year which centred on the building operated by Sugar and Spice, on Copster Hill Road in Hathershaw.
The business currently uses up the ground floor, while the first is empty, having previously operated as a bakery kitchen.

Now, a second retail unit where the shop's bakery kitchen is and six en-suite bedrooms on the first floor will be developed and will operate as a house in multiple occupancy.
The first floor will also have a communal kitchen for residents to share, while there will be a cycle storage area on the ground floor for residents.
As part of the approval, no machinery will be allowed to operate or deliveries allowed to take place outside of hours between 8am and 6pm between Monday and Saturday, while no such activities will be allowed to take place at any time on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
