During October, a number of criminals from Oldham were locked up for crimes committed both in the borough and beyond.

From drug dealers to a burglar, here are some of the most dangerous criminals from Oldham to be locked up last month.

Man who caused crash has jail time extended

An Oldham man currently in prison after he fled a car crash where he left a woman with serious injuries has had his jail time extended for assault.

Mark Kennedy, of Elderwood, Chadderton, was jailed for 14 months in July for causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident in Chadderton last year.

On October 7 last month, the 44-year-old appeared at Teesside Crown Court where he was sentenced for assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was sentenced to 22 months in prison, which will be added on to the sentence he is currently serving.

Drugs dealers given lengthy sentences

Two drug dealers from Oldham have been jailed for their roles in an operation which included for drugs, firearms and counterfeit money.

Five men, including Brian Threadgale from Oldham and Janade Parvez, of Cotton Mill Crescent, appeared at Manchester Crown Court on October 25 to be sentenced.

Threadgale, 37, was involved in the sale of drugs, while Parvez, 27, was found to have an air rifle, cash and mobile phones at his home, while Class A drugs were found in his car.

Threadgale, of no fixed abode, was jailed for five years while Parvez was jailed for nine years and nine months in prison.

Thief went on crime spree

A man from Oldham committed a series of offences, which largely involved thefts in the borough.

Bernard Ward, of Clive Road, Failsworth, appeared at Minshull Street Crown Court on October 29, where the court heard of his offending.

This included him breaking into an Indian restaurant in Oldham and stealing a man's car keys from the changing rooms of a gym, before driving off in his car and trying to use his cards.

The 51-year-old also stole hundreds of pounds from a pub in Shaw.

He was jailed for 35 months.
