A young boy from Oldham whose father served in the armed forces for 13 years is now taking on a big challenge for Remembrance Day.
Jonah James Jackson is only seven years old and will be tackling a hike from Park Bridge up to Hartshead Pike in an effort to raise money for The Royal British Legion.
The young boy has already smashed his first target of £250 as well as his second target of £500, having raised a total of £685 at the time of writing.
Jonah's mum, Leanne Buckley, said he originally thought about a basketball challenge as he plays on a team but that they didn't have enough time to put something together.
Leanne then suggested he could do a tough walk instead.
She said: "I told him it would have to be quite a hard walk so that people would sponsor it and he said 'I'll walk to America'.
"I told him we'd have to be a bit more realistic and we came up with Hartshead Pike as it is quite a challenge because it's all uphill.
"Jonah's sister made some leaflets that we have put in his school and some shops."
Jonah's dad, Matt, served in the armed forces for a total of 13 years and was deployed on the first tour in Iraq in 2003.
He joined the army at 16 after leaving school and left when he was around 29 years old.
Leanne said Jonah likes to look at his dad's medals, as he usually brings them out around this time of year.
Jonah will be completing the walk on Saturday (November 9) and not only will he be accompanied and supported by his mum, dad and older sister, but many of his family members are asking if they can come and cheer him on too.
The fundraiser for Jonah's challenge is done straight through the RBL, meaning that every singe penny donated goes directly to them through their website.
Jonah's mum said: "He's going to take a photo with everyone once he gets to the top.
"He's a bit shy but he is really, really excited about it.
"He keeps forgetting what Harsthead Pike is called when he's telling teachers but he really can't wait.
"When people donate, they leave little messages and he's loving going on and reading what they've put."
