The Post Office has given an update on the situation with an Oldham branch that closed suddenly last week.
Residents were concerned about Butler Green Post Office this week, and took to social media to search for an explanation about the Chadderton branch.
A post, made by a woman in a Chadderton Facebook group on Wednesday (October 27), asked if anyone knew why the post office was closed and claimed it would be 'permanently shut'.
Other residents commented that they too had noticed the post office's closure, with one man stating it had been open on Friday, October 22.
Another resident said they had been the previous day (October 26) and a notice read that it would remain closed 'until further notice'.
The Post Office website confirms the post office is indeed closed and has it listed as so for the next week.
However, The Post Office has now provided an update on the closure, saying it is due to 'personal reasons.
A Post Office spokesperson said: “We’re sorry to confirm that Butler Green Post Office is closed due to personal circumstances.
"It is planned to re-open on Monday, November 4.
"Our advice for local residents and businesses is to consider using our nearby branch on Oxford Street or our branch on Lee Street which is also open on Saturdays between 9am and 1.30pm."
