A food hygiene inspection found evidence of mice droppings at a cafe in Alexandra Park.
The report, which has been released by Oldham Council after a Freedom of Information request, rated Boathouse Cafe an overall two out of five stars - meaning 'improvement necessary'.
The inspection was carried out by Oldham Council's food hygiene team on August 9 and the score remains accurate according to the Food Standards Agency website as of October 31.
The establishment was given several requirements they were ordered to comply with to bring the business up to standards.
Notably, the inspection officer reported that evidence of mice droppings was found in a cupboard underneath a fridge which was used to store Alpro milk substitutes.
The officer told the cafe they must carry out a deep clean, put all plates and equipment through a dishwasher and store them in a lidded container.
They were also advised to fill all holes and call out pest control.
The Boathouse was also told to review all allergen information and correct labelling to highlight allergens on sweet and cake labels.
Wooden shelving and cupboards in the cafe were also required to be painted to allow for easier cleaning as well as pipes for the dishwasher needing to be decorated for the same reason.
A requirement for new chopping boards was given a two-week compliance period.
The officer outlined a revisit would be arranged, but details of this have not yet been released.
The food hygiene report looks at three areas - Hygienic food handling, which was rated very good, Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, which was judged improvement necessary, and Management of food safety, which was listed as generally satisfactory.
The cafe is run by Pure Coffee, a hospitality business with locations across Stockport as well as the Boathouse in Oldham.
Despite the low food hygiene score the cafe is rated highly on Google Reviews with a total of 330 reviews giving it a score of 4.5 stars.
One review said: "Great community cafe with homemade lunch specials menu and a variety of desserts.
"Staff are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Added bonus of being set in a huge park, next to a beautiful lake and tennis courts."
