George Street Chapel has been transformed back to its Victorian roots with a traditional Halloween look ready for their ghost tour, and it's your last chance to grab tickets.
The event, held today (October 30) from 6pm, will see brave Oldhamers enter the chapel by candlelight and hear the story of Annie Simmons, a long-forgotten fictional school girl who lived in the chapel and came to a horrible death and returns every All Hallows' Eve to revisit her home.
All Hallows' Eve is the traditional celebration of Halloween, which the Victorian people believed saw those who had passed away return as spirits from the other side on one night a year
This afternoon, the organisers of the event at Age UK Oldham will begin laying out the event for their final numbers, so be sure to grab your tickets now.
Not only do you get to embark on a scarily enlightening tour, a ticket will include a 'good old Lancashire feast' of pie and sponge and custard.
Maggie Hurley, who is organising the event, said: "It's not your typical pumpkin and witches and whole American themed Halloween party.
"It's very Victorian, we're decorated very dark with everything by candlelight."
The decorations dressing the Chapel take inspiration from the building's history, which attendees will learn about as part of the tour.
With the building being previously home to a 'ducking stool' which was used to carry out hangings, Maggie and her team have created sheet wrapped 'bodies' of those hung and tied them from the ceiling.
They've also got an assembly of actors waiting to give you a fright as you follow the tour into the cellar, where you can find a 'body' being prepared in Mary Hall's original home.
Mary Hall was a real former resident living in the cellar of the chapel, and prepared the bodies of the deceased ready for burial.
Tickets are priced at £22, which includes a two course meal, tour of the cellar dwellings, chapel and schoolhouse, a spooky story reading as well as a bit of a history lesson mixed in.
Organisers say the event is most suitable for older children and adults as it requires sitting to hear the ghostly goings on.
To book tickets, call the event organisers on 0161 622 9264.
However, don't worry too much if you miss out this year, as the event returns annually.
