A woman has been left hospitalised with severe injuries after being punched during an altercation between a group of men.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said that at around 2am on Sunday (October 27), the woman was walking down Rochdale Road in Royton with a friend when the group of men approached the pair.

During a subsequent altercation, the woman was punched, leaving her with severe injuries.

She attended hospital some hours later and remains there for treatment.

Police say that a group of three or four men were seen running away from the area towards Rochdale.

Now, police are appealing for information as they continue their investigation.

Detective Sergeant Kate Dawson, from GMP’s Oldham district, said: “This shocking attack has left a woman in hospital with severe injuries, for which she is still being assessed.

"No one should have to endure horrific incidents like this and we are investigating all aspects as we continue our enquiries.

“I would urge anyone with any information to please get in touch with us. This could be CCTV, mobile phone, dashcam, or doorbell footage that was captured from around the time of the incident. Even small information or detail could greatly benefit our work.”
