UPDATE: A Greater Manchester Police say that there are believed to be no suspicion circumstances or evidence of third party involvement in this case.
A GMP spokesperson said: "As an update regarding this incident that there is no suspicious circumstances or third party involvement following the Home Office post-mortem."
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman in her 70s died in Bolton.
Paramedics and police were called to an incident at a property on Romiley Crescent in Breightmet yesterday evening, Thursday.
A woman in her 70s was taken to hospital, but tragically died there.
Following the incident, a man, also in his 70s, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Officers are still investigating the incident and a police car remained in the area this morning, Friday.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "At around 5.50pm last night, officers responded to an incident at a property on Romiley Crescent in Bolton.
"Emergency services attended the scenes and took a woman in her 70s to hospital, where she sadly passed away.
"A man in his 70s has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Enquiries are ongoing."
A North West Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "Paramedics were called to Romiley Crescent in Breightmet at 5.09pm yesterday (Thursday).
"An ambulance, an advanced paramedic and two response vehicles attended.
"We have taken a patient to hospital."
Residents on the street paid tribute to the woman.
One said: "The lady has passed away. The ambulance came and they were working on her for a long time. They 'blue-lighted' her over but couldn't bring her back.
"Then police and CID arrived.
"She was a lovely woman. She was a really nice lady."
Another resident said: "She was a nice lady, she would walk past and say 'hi'. She was always polite and nice."
Residents also said that multiple police and paramedic vehicles were in attendance, before it was dropped down to one police car on scene.
Another resident said: "I saw police before I went to work at around 7pm."
