A new Greek restaurant in Oldham has announced its grand opening, featuring live themed entertainment and a freshly unveiled menu.

Apollo's Greek Restaurant has announced it will be opening in the coming weeks and will have days of Greek-themed dancers to mark the occasion.

The restaurant is being opened by Helen Whelan, who spoke with The Oldham Times in September, saying she was aiming to have the restaurant open by the end of October, dependant on refurbishment work.

The restaurant will officially open with a grand evening on Friday, November 8, with dishes from its newly unveiled menu.

There will be traditional dishes such as kleftiko, souvlaki and moussaka accompanying lighter Greek starters.

Apollo's will also be hosting The Greek Dancers entertainers on their opening nights, with traditional dancing outfits to set the mood.

The restaurant will be opening in the former site of La Bella Italian, at 57-59 High Street in Lees, which has now housed three restaurants including Apollo's.

The new owners have said they are Lees' very own 'village Greek' and are working to bring "Greece to your doorstep with traditional cuisine and authentic entertainment".

Speaking in September, Ms Whelan said: "It's our first restaurant so we're very excited to be able to bring something new to the area.

"It's family-run and will be a family-friendly establishment.

"We have been local to the area for around ten years now, so we have been overwhelmed by the interest in the coming venture and are excited to serve members of the community and the wider Oldham area.

"It will be in the former La Bella, which I used to frequent many a time with my children.

"We've completely changed the layout inside.

"We're having an open kitchen downstairs with seating and upstairs with seating, with the option to use the upstairs as a function room as well.

"The more the merrier."
