Chances Mentoring, a leading organisation in alternate provision, is celebrating a significant milestone after being awarded Department for Education (DfE) status, a major step that will allow them to open as a specialist school in January.

This recognition is the result of their continued dedication to supporting young people and comes on the heels of three recent, prestigious award wins, that have solidified their reputation as a cornerstone in Alternate Provision Services.

Founded with a mission to guide young people facing complex challenges, Chances Mentoring has long been a beacon of hope for those who might otherwise fall through the cracks of mainstream education.

Their success was underscored this year by three major award wins, each highlighting a different facet of their work and marking a turning point in the organisation’s growth.

These awards not only celebrate their commitment to providing life-changing support but also set the stage for their expansion into specialist education with the forthcoming school.

The awards include 2 Oldham Business Award Wins and a Tameside Business Award win while they have also made the final on 2 other occasions with one being the National Children and Young Peoples award, making that 3 win in 5 finals within the last 12 months.

The recognition from these awards was instrumental in securing DfE approval for Chances Mentoring to establish a specialist school, a long-term goal for the organisation. The school, set to open in January, will cater specifically to young people who require more targeted support than mainstream education can provide. By offering smaller class sizes, bespoke learning plans, and integrated mentoring services, the school will create a nurturing environment that fosters both academic achievement and personal growth. Subjects that the students will cover while at Chances include Maths, English, Construction, Hair and Beauty, PSHE and Thematic, giving students an advantage in post 16.

This development marks a new chapter for Chances Mentoring, allowing them to expand their reach and provide even more comprehensive support to young people in need. The specialist school will not only enhance their ability to offer education tailored to individual needs but also serve as a model for how mentoring and education can work hand-in-hand to achieve the best outcomes for students.

With their DfE status and award-winning programs, Chances Mentoring is set to continue making a profound impact on young lives, paving the way for a brighter future for those who need it most.
