An inspirational salon in Failsworth which has instilled confidence into more than 1,000 children struggling with hair loss has announced its star-studded winter gala.

For more than six years, Ashley-Marie Higgings has been campaigning and working tirelessly to support children suffering from hair loss by making, supplying and fitting wigs, hair replacement systems, accessories, hats, headbands with hair extensions and real hair donations to cover hair loss patches.

The skilled hairdresser, who owns My Luscious Locks on Alder Road, launched a charity within the salon with her mission to support even more children in 2021.

To date, Little Lady Locks has helped more than 1,000 children.

Speaking to The Oldham Times last year, Ashley said she would often hear "traumatic and troubled childhood stories" from adults who have suffered hair loss - and discovered there are few affordable solutions to help disguise or manage their "very public condition".

She added: "The more and more children I helped, I began to realise that my life had a meaning and a purpose - and Little Lady Locks was born."

Clients who use the salon contribute to the costs of running the charity.

However, to fund the mission even further, Little Lady Locks has held three winter galas - and last year saw TV personality Gail Porter and ex-Love Island contestant and alopecia sufferer Kaz Crossley take to the stage and host the event.

Now, the hotly anticipated Little Lady Locks Starlight Winter Gala is back again and will be held at the Kimpton Hoel in Manchester on Friday, November 15.

This year's Starlight Winter Gala promises to be the biggest and best yet, with hopes of raising even more funds to help more children regain their confidence and lead a fuller, more normal life, without worrying about their hair loss condition.

Kicking off at 6.30pm and running until 1am, guests can expect a fun-filled night of entertainment, celebration and compassion.

Tickets for the gala can be bought here.

This year's gala will be hosted by Olivia McVeigh, a beauty influencer, make-up artist and "alopecia gal".

Olivia has been chosen to lead the gala as she understands the challenges of hair loss and her personal connection to the cause makes her "the perfect host" for what promises to be an unforgettable night of inspiration and support.

Guests will also enjoy live performances from DJ and instrumentalist group, Girls That Mix, the internationally-acclaimed vocalist, Victor Michael, and Hayley Maria.

All tickets include a welcome drink, a three-course meal and the chance to participate in a charity auction, with proceeds going directly to Little Lady Locks’ mission.

There are also multiple sponsorship packages available for businesses who would like to get involved on the night.

Little Lady Locks has already secured some amazing sponsorships including Loreal Paris, Beaverbrooks Jewellers, Remi Cachet, Manchester Steel, and ADS Engineering.

Announcing the big event, Ashley said: “Our last ball in 2023 was such a wonderful event to celebrate our life-changing work and bring together our fantastic hair community and supporters from around the country.

"This year’s venue is stunning and can host up to 600 guests.

"We will also have an amazing charity auction, and a very special guest star hosting the night – it’s set to be our best ball yet.”
