At least two police cars and several officers attended the call, according to witnesses and a photograph from the scene.

Greater Manchester Police has now confirmed its officers were deployed to the area following reports of a "concern for welfare" of a man.

A spokesperson for GMP said the man "has some mental health problems" and was taken to "a secure hospital by officers".

GMP also said there were no threats towards any school staff or pupils during the incident.

Greenhill Academy has also been contacted for comment.
