A new snooker hall is set to open in Oldham town centre this week, which will bring a "well-polished" lounge with dozens of tables to the town.
Oldham Snooker Lounge is set to open tomorrow (October 11) on Union Street, in the building previously occupied by the Oldham Evening Chronicle.
The snooker hall has been set up by father and son duo Taimor and Omar Hussainzada, from Stockport, who said they saw an opportunity in Oldham and are excited to deliver the project.
Omar said: "With Oldham, we saw there's a big opportunity here.
"We saw that there is a potential for growth here, and the fact that there isn't already a big snooker club.
"I know there are small ones, but I believe this town needs a well-polished snooker club to bring it to the level it should be at."
In May, plans were approved to develop the building into a snooker lounge, and nearly five months later, it is ready to open.
In total, there are 31 snooker and pool tables spread across the ground floor and first floor, including eight which will be based in VIP rooms.
There are also two table football tables and TVs, while dart boards are set to be installed.
Omar said: "Sometimes it's not just about playing snooker, it's about feeling at home.
"Snooker is a relaxing sport to play, you can do it with anybody, so that's where the idea came from in the end."
Omar said the development of the snooker lounge has "not been easy" and they have faced "a lot of obstacles", but that they are excited to be able now to open the snooker hall.
The development has seen a derelict site, which Omar said was left in a "dump", converted into a place where people will be able to socialise and enjoy themselves.
The snooker hall will be open from midday to 2am every day, with pizzas and soft drinks served, while an application for an alcohol licence has been submitted.
People looking to try out Oldham Snooker Lounge can do so without any booking by walking in and playing on one of the dozens of tables.
