A search is underway for a man who threw a brick at a police car and then injured a child after crashing into them while on an electric bike.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has launched an appeal to trace a man they are looking to speak to in connection with the incidents.

Police have said that at around 6.19pm on Tuesday (October 8), a man threw a brick at a police car on Ripponden Road.

The man then made off from the scene on a Surron electric bike and at around 6.27pm, 12 minutes later, on Taurus Street, Waterhead, he crashed into a three-year-old child.

The child was thrown into the air and hit a parked vehicle.

The man on the bike failed to stop and made off from the scene again, leaving the child with a head injury.

The child was hospitalised but has since been discharged and is recovering at home.

Police are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and assist in their investigation.
