The Blackpool sky was lit up for the final time for the World Fireworks Championship on Friday night (October 5).

The championship has seen three teams, from Poland, Finland, and the USA, perform stunning displays from the beach in front of the iconic Blackpool Tower.

Friday saw the USA team, Great Lakes Fireworks, put on a spectacular show with the fireworks synced to music.

Established in 1992, the Michigan-based company said before the event started in September that they aspire to turn ordinary moments into extraordinary memories.

They draw inspiration from the shimmering waters of the Great Lakes in North America.

A Great Lakes Fireworks spokesperson said: "Over the years, we have mastered the alchemy of colour, sound and spectacle."

Photographer Lee Mansfield managed to capture these amazing pictures of the Great Lakes team’s display.

Other shows included Nakaja Art from Poland on September 7 and Pyroman Finland Ltd on September 21.

Announcing the names of the three competing teams, Cllr Lynn Williams, leader of Blackpool Council, said: "Firework nights are something very special in the Blackpool calendar and we can’t wait to see what our three new international competitors are planning.

"Judging by the expertise and artistry of the teams participating, I think we can safely say the displays are going to be spectacularly good."

The World Fireworks Championship is part of Blackpool’s major autumn and winter events programme, which also includes - Ride The Lights, Illuminations Switch-On, Lightpool Festival, and Christmas By The Sea festivities.
