E-ACT The Oldham Academy North has been nominated for two awards at a North West education awards ceremony.
The academy has been shortlisted for the Most Inspirational Secondary School, as well as the Innovative and Creative Literacy Award at the Educate Awards.
The Oldham Academy North impressed judges with its positive strides in literacy, led by assistant headteacher, Hannah Barlow, who is the strategic lead for literacy.
Ms Barlow has ensured that faculty leaders have effectively integrated disciplinary literacy into their curriculums and promoted reading for pleasure, having employed a librarian and worked to make the school library a welcoming space where students can enjoy age-appropriate books.

The school boasts a 92.8 per cent attendance rate, and achieved a +0.54 progress score in 2023, placing it as one of the top comprehensive schools in the area.
In addition to academic success, the school is dedicated to inclusivity and community cohesion, with Ofsted praised the school for its cultural diversity and welcoming environment during its last report.
The Educate Awards will be held on Friday, 15 November, at the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral.
