A popular shop in the heart of Uppermill which sells stylish and luxury dog apparel has announced it will be launching a doggie spa next year.

Sidney and Sapphire emerged on Uppermill's High Street in 2021 after owner and dog lover, Briony-Leigh Morrey, launched the innovative business idea from the confines of her kitchen.

The idea came when Briony was looking for the perfect dog lead for her rescue pooch, Sidney, in the height of lockdown.

She wanted to give her Labradoodle a long lead that was both comfortable and stylish when the pair were out on their walks.

In the absence of finding the right lead, Briony started to conjure up her own designs before speaking to a manufacturer to bring her ideas to life - and her brand, Sidney and Sapphire was born.

The business snowballed online in 2020 and she continued to grow the brand to sell a range of items from matching accessories, such as harnesses and leads, to human apparel and natural treat boxes.

By March 2021, her designs were in such hot demand that she could no longer work from home and moved into a pop-up shop in Uppermill.

Since then, the shop has established itself as the go-to destination for all dog lovers, specialising in luxury goods and natural treats.

Now, Briony has announced the shop has another innovative idea up its sleeves with an in-store dog spa set to launch in 2025.

Briony said they are "venturing into the world of canine grooming with a focus on creating a relaxing, stress-free experience for dogs of all temperaments".

She continued: "What sets Sidney and Sapphire’s spa apart is their commitment to inclusivity and patience.

"As I know from experience with my two rescue dogs, not all pets are comfortable in traditional grooming settings and require time, patience and space.

"This insight has shaped the spa’s philosophy: a calm, serene environment where even nervous dogs can feel at ease."

As the area's only dog boutique, Briony said the expansion into grooming "perfectly aligns" with their commitment to becoming "the destination for pampered pets".

Customers can currently register their interest in spa appointments on the business' website, and bag a discount on their first grooming appointment.

Briony added: "This has always been part of our dream and business plan, and we can't wait to bring our vision to life.

"We will be transforming our space into something truly special."
