The Asda supermarket in Shaw has had a reinspection after it received a two-star food hygiene rating.

The shop, on Greenfield Lane,  was rated two stars in June after an inspection was completed due to concerns being raised to Oldham Council about products being displayed past their 'use by' dates.

The visit was held on June 27 and at the time Asda had at least 28 products on the shelves that were past their 'use by' dates.

After the inspection, the store had a half-hour manual date check added to its routine.

Oldham Council also said in the report that they were considering enforcement action.

The new inspection, held on September 5, found the store to be compliant in all areas and rated 'good' across the board.

The Asda was then rated as five stars, meaning its food hygiene is considered 'very good'.

An Asda spokesperson said: "We take the hygiene of our stores extremely seriously, and we immediately put a comprehensive plan in place to address issues identified at our Shaw store earlier in the year.

"We can confirm that these issues have since been rectified and we’re pleased to have now received a rating that reflects the high standards that we set for ourselves.”
